Gardens in camps are centers of creativity and roleplay, and we want to capture that same spirit in the Bazaar, with the introduction of the City Gardens. Located in the courtyard between the Alchemists’ Guild and the Surgeons’ Guild, the City Gardens are a dedicated space for Bazaar-based Herbalists to show off their best, and for visitors to enjoy their craftsmanship while enjoying a snack, a beverage, or some fresh gossip.
How It Works
In the lead-up to the event, Alchemists’ Guild leads will collect the names of all enterprises or non-camp-affiliated groups who are interested in having a garden plot via Discord. Garden plots of approximately 2’x4’ will be taped off during setup, and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Any player using a garden plot will be responsible for setting their garden plot up, maintaining it throughout the event, and removing all materials at the end of the event. All garden plots must be checked out by the Alchemy Leads at the end of the event to ensure all materials have been removed.

Are the Rules the Same?
Mostly, yes! Players will still need to check in daily with the Bazaar ref team (not the Guild Leads!) to use their Herbalism Guild Skill, otherwise no in-game herbs will grow in their garden. Garden bed biomes will not have a minimum size requirement, they only need some distinguishing surface or border and the recommended plants or animals.
Using the existing Theft and Sabotage mechanics will VERY much be an option! Instead of the 1’x1’ square used in camp gardens, plan to provide an empty receptacle of some kind - a basket, a flowerpot, the skull of your enemy - to which a sign can be added that clearly says “Sabotage.” If you do NOT want to participate in sabotage or theft, include a clear sign that says “No Sabotage.” If you choose to steal from or sabotage another garden, you must opt into theft or sabotage of your own.
There’s More!
The Alchemists’ Guild will also be holding a contest for gardens in the Bazaar. The winning garden will be awarded a trophy that can be displayed in their garden the following year, and most importantly, bragging rights. The winner will be announced at our Friday night garden party, so don’t miss it!
Recommended Materials:
-
A barrier layer to keep any dirt or sand off the ground and facilitate clean-up, e.g. contractor bag, landscaping barrier mesh, fabric
-
A border for your garden plot: rock, rope and stakes, dowels, a fancy fence - anything that delineates the space
-
A sign with the name of your enterprise, clearly displayed and legible
-
Fake plants (or non-invasive real ones) and creatures to establish garden beds
-
Sabotage receptacle and sign, or just sign if opting out
-
Gardening tools (see the Lab and Garden Guide for suggestions)
-
Your creativity!
Tip:
Nobody ever said your garden must be entirely located on the ground - building up is an option as long as the structure is stable. The courtyard is very susceptible to strong winds!
